This match for war funds only attracted about 1000 spectators to Dens Park, Dundee. The home team opened strongly, but fine scoring [sic] by Anderson prevented them scoring early. They continued to hold the upper hand, but Robertson scored for Aberdeen. Brown was not long in equalising. Aberdeen scored three times in ten minutes after the resumption, and although Dundee tried hard to make up the leeway, they could only secure other two goals. Anderson did some brilliant saving in the Aberdeen goal.

The Dundee fielded a strong side for Aberdeen's benefit and Dens Park. Aberdeen might have been described as the Gordon Highlanders, with Anderson and Brewster grown in to tighten the defence. But to representation proved quite fit to beat Dundee. The home club had the better of matters to start with, but could not score, Anderson being very safe. The Dundee keeper failed to hold a drive from Robertson's foot, and Anderson did some clever work before Brown got the equaliser. This was all the scoring at the interval.
The Mackay-Paton wing made things hum after the restart. Fraser mulled a cross by the outside man, and Duff easily netted. In another minute Paton headed the ball through from Duff, and not long afterwards converted a cross from Mackay. The lead, 4-1, was comfortable, but it was needed, Dundee scored twice before the whistle blew. Anderson, although injured, remained at his post till the end.
