GLENTORAN AT PITTODRIE. Lack of Thrills. ABERDEEN NEVER EXTENDED.

A well contested "friendly" match, at Pittodrie Park, Aberdeen, resulted in a draw of one goal each. Roberts, the Irish Internationalist centre forward of the Glentoran team, scoring for the Irishmen three minutes after the start of the second half, while the equaliser came shortly afterwards as the result of a pass from Love to the left winger Burke. Geary, another Irish Internationalist, playing on Glentoran's inside left, also showed to advantage. For Aberdeen, both wingers, Love and Burke, were good.

Aberdeen's enterprise in staging a match with Glentoran, the Irish League champions, at Pittodrie did not meet with the support anticipated.
Only about 3000 spectators witnessed a game which, like most "friendlies," ended in a draw, each side scoring once.
It was a game completely lacking in thrills, and at no period did the spectators get anything to enthuse over.
While the Irishmen took the fixture seriously, and were intent on a victory, they were no match for Aberdeen, who at no time exerted themselves. At the start Aberdeen adopted the close passing game, but these tactics were barren of result. The visitors on the other hand, banged the ball about, and Roberts quickly got in touch with Smith.

Goal Disallowed.

David netted for the homesters, but was declared off-side. Twenty minutes had gone before Fitzroy, the Irish 'keeper, who was never at his ease, held his first shots - from Donald and then from Burke.
Roberts in the next Glentoran raid almost counted with a fast rising shot, and at the other end Fitzroy saved at full length from Burke.
The Aberdeen citadel should have fallen when Roberts, Glentoran's dashing leader, struck the post.
With the homesters taking matters easily, the Irish eleven showed to advantage, but failed to count during the first half. Aberdeen revealed something like their real form at the start of the second period, and Fitzroy saved from Love, while Dickie got the woodwork.

Glentoran Score.

With three minutes gone Roberts eluded the Aberdeen defence to open the scoring.
This goal marked a revival on the part of the home team and in the fourteenth minute Love brushed a Dickie cross into the net.
The visitors lost the services of Gibson, left back, who came by a leg injury.
Aberdeen fell back to the old "friendly" style, but despite this held the advantage, and might have taken the lead on more than one occasion.
