Won on the Post.
Though the Aberdeen A won by a goal to nil, and that goal scored from a penalty, they had the game in hand all through. There were five absentees from the usual eleven through injuries and illness yet still they gave a capital account of themselves on a pitch not at all suited to their game. The grass was long and rank, which did not permit of close passing, the ball having to be kept going with all the strength behind it the players could command. They were further handicapped by McKinley getting knocked out, and having to play at outside left the whole of the second period, McKenzie acting as pivot. It was well on in the first half when Hilton was clean through, having tricked the backs, that the feet was taken from him, and Sam Willox made no bones with the penalty kick. It was more by good luck than good management that two more goals were not put on by the reserves, who had several tries that deserved to count. East Fife are strong in defence, and to them they have to give credit for the score standing as it did at the finish.Source: Bon-Accord, 27th September 1906
