HT Score: Aberdeen 0 - 1 Peterhead

Aberdeenshire Cup Final
Aberdeen scorers: Soye.
Peterhead scorers: W. Cadger

There was very little good football shown in the final for the Aberdeenshire Cup on Saturday between Aberdeen A and Peterhead. The forcing tactics of the visitors entirely upset the home players, who had their day off, and could do nothing right. Peterhead took the lead in the first half, and had they pushed home the advantage they had in this period the cup would have gone to Peterhead. Aberdeen did a bit better in the second half, and though they equalised, many good chances were wasted, simply by playing the man instead of the ball, a fault far too common on both sides. But for the excitement at one time when Peterhead had the lead, there was very little else to keep the crowd enthusiastic over.
At a meeting of the Association on Monday evening the replay was ordered to take place at Pittodrie on Saturday. The kick-off to be at 3.30 prompt, and Mr. J. Bell, Dundee, was appointed to referee the game.

There was a comparatively large attendance at Pittodrie on Saturday when Aberdeen A engaged Peterhead in the final for the Aberdeenshire Cup.the teams were:

Aberdeen A: King; Hannah, Low; Moffat, Macfarlane, Henderson; C. V. A McEchern, Soye, McKenzie, Edgar, Jaffrey. Peterhead: Lamb; Stevens, Philip; McIntosh, Davidson, Bruce; Imlach, Scott, A. Cadger, Thomson, W. Cadger.
Referee - Mr. John McHardy, Dundee.

Peterhead made a surprise invasion, and the brothers cadger with long, swinging pass is, got in on King. At the other end Lamb foozled a soft ball. Jaffrey drove for goal, and struck the upright. The visitors were not lying down, and a severe pressure was set up at the Aberdeen goal, A. Cadger and Scott having drives. Lam was nervous in goal, and made weak clearances. Aberdeen were not strong, and Peterhead had probably the better of the exchanges. McIntosh and Imlah operated well on the right, and the latter sent along a pretty shot which dropped over the bar. Peterhead wakened up, and got their first point from a surprise run. A fine swinging shot from W Cadger on the left struck the inside of the post, and got in behind King. Aberdeen tried hard to get the equaliser, but strong punting by the visiting halves kept the attack clear of Lamb. Imlah had a bad fall on his head, and was stunned for a time. Two wards the interval Aberdeen pressed hard.

The second half opened with attacks by Aberdeen, mainly initiated by McEchern on the right. Peterhead showed little sign of falling away, and the continued to harass the local defence. After a corner had been given away by Hannah, Aberdeen moved up on the left, and lamb almost foozled a straight shot from Edgar. Peterhead were creating a surprise, and playing much the better game. The attacked with persistency, and the halves continually nipped good manoeuvres by the home forwards. Stevens and Philip played a strong game at the back, and realized the importance of keeping the Aberdeen men away from Lamb. At last Aberdeen got the equaliser. It came as the result of a corner forced by Jaffrey, who sent in a lovely cross from the corner flag. Soye was lying handy, and had a simple task in placing the ball in the net. Thompson and W Cadger had a fine race up the left wing, but it only brought a fruitless corner. At the other end McEchern had two good tries, and this he followed up with a tremendous drive which land fisted out with difficulty. Aberdeen were lucky to finish on an equality.
