Aberdeen A and Hearts A met at Pittodrie on Saturday in a Scottish reserve league match. Teams:-

Aberdeen A: Greig; Hannah, Harper; Davidson, Macfarlane, Low; Hay, Scott, Robertson, Edgar, Neilson.
Hearts A: Thomson; Graham, Russell; McLaren, Wilson, Nellies; Bennett, Smith, Farr, French, Ross.
Referee - Mr. Davidson, Arbroath.

Aberdeen won the toss, and from the kick-off the Hearts were made to defend. Robertson in the first 2 minutes had a good try, which Thomson held. Aberdeen played clever football and the Hearts were not allowed to settle down. The local halves kept a tight hold of the Hearts' forwards, who occasionally showed good combination, but their work in front of goal was ineffective, due to a large extent to the bride play of Hannah and Harper. The visitors were never really dangerous. A clever run by Farr, which was stopped in time by Hannah, was followed by two crosses from Neilson, but these were carried over the bar by the wind. A good shot by Farr was well held by Greig. Aberdeen were the first to score, Robertson doing the trick with a soft shot. After this Aberdeen had more of the game. Russell, who played well, was continually in the thick of it, and repeatedly saved his side. After a few spasmodic rushes by the Hearts, Aberdeen took the upper hand, and the visitors were kept in their own territory till the interval.

Aberdeen opened the second half in promising fashion, but the strangers were as determined to keep them out. The home attack wore out, and off went the Hearts with a rush. The centre got through, but he allowed the ball to get too far ahead, and Greig rushing out, kicked well down the field. End-to-end play followed, and during a determined raid on the Hearts' goal Scott was brought down within the penalty area. A penalty was given, and Harper, who took the kick, placed his side two up. Aberdeen had most of the game after this. The Hearts played hard to reduce the leeway, but without success. Towards the close, Aberdeen secured another point. After clever play by the local right wing, Hay sent over a nice cross, which ultimately went to Neilson, who scored.
