Aberdeen appeared against Dundee at dens park last night in a benefit match for Laing ones, the home forward. There was a fair crowd.
Neither side force the pace in the first half, but Dundee had much the better of the exchange's. The attacked repeatedly, but King saved finely. The home centre missed a fine opportunity, but the forwards generally finished badly. Walker had the first try for Aberdeen, who, nearing half-time, had an equal share of play, and nearly scored after Walker had fooled the opposition. Hamilton had a brilliant touch line try for Dundee, but King saved superbly. Later, a penalty was given against Wilson for handling, and Langlands scored for Dundee. There was an exciting tussle in the Aberdeen goal, and Hamilton hit the upright, but a foul brought relief to Aberdeen. King again saved when Hamilton broke through. On the interval Satterthwaite scored for Dundee, turned two up.
On the resumption, walker had a splendid effort for Aberdeen after Murray had taken the ball up the field. Subsequently play was slack, neither side exerting himself to any great extent, and play was uneventful. Play was mostly in midfield. Neilson had a good try for Aberdeen, but there was little between the sides. Near the finish walker added a third goal for Dundee, and followed up with a fourth, while Main scored for Aberdeen.
