93rd Highlanders At Pittodrie Victory For Aberdeen A

Aberdeen A met the 93rd Highlanders in a Highland League fixture at Pittodrie on Saturday, in fine weather. There was a fair attendance of spectators.

In the first half Aberdeen A played towards the sea. Immediately the game started they pressed, and Markey was soon called upon to save. Hannah was an early prominent. He carried the ball well into the Highlanders' territory, and then transferred it to H. Smith, who sent past. A few minutes later Hannah shot over the bar. Smart combination by Aberdeen's left wing brought them into range, but Robertson's shot was ineffectual. Aberdeen still kept up the pressure, and Main shot over the crossbar. Markey saved smartly from Brown, and following this he had to clear his charge on two or three occasions. Eventually Main scored after a clever run by Robertson. The Highlanders now had a look in. McTavish shown speed, and dashed ahead, but Hannah came across, and the ball was sent out of play. The highlanders maintained a lively attack for a few minutes, but Aberdeen defence was not to be beaten. Play was transferred to the other end, and Markey cleared with Main in close attendance upon him. The Highlanders forced a corner, which brought them no advantage. McTavish, the outside right of the Highlanders, got away in capital style, and finished by sending the ball across the field. Urquhart, who was only a few yards from Jamison, shot at a terrific pace, but the ball struck the post and rebounded into the field of play. Aberdeen again pressed, but could not score.

On the resumption Aberdeen's forwards raided, but Main shot behind. Two corners fell to Aberdeen in quick succession. The highlanders invaded in turn, and McKay shot swiftly, but his aim was not true. Jamison saved from a foul. After some give and take play, Aberdeen pressed strongly, but could not get through. Hannah seemed anxious that his side should get another goal, for two or three times he dribbled and carried the ball well into the Highlanders' territory. No scoring took place in the second half, and the game ended - Aberdeen A, 1; 93rd Highlanders, 0.
