The Alliance fixture at Pittodrie between the Aberdeen Reserves and Dundee Hibs resulted in a draw of two goals each, and the verdict was a fair indication of the game. Both the two points on either side were secured by the inside lefts. W. Robertson and Forbes counted for the homesters, and Balloch and Stewart netted tor the visitors. The play never reached a high standard - in fact, the greasy ball and slippery surface spoiled what might have proved a keener contest. While the greater share of combination came from the Pittodrie side, the Hibs displayed bright patches on occasion. The first half exhibition was certainly the most interesting, and when W. Robertson opened the scoring for his side two minutes from the start, the crowd were hopeful of seeing plenty goals. The Hibs' defence during that period was unable to withstand the forceful methods of their opponents, Bowman their goalkeeper, being anything but safe. They had two trialists on view - Slavin, formerly of Third Lanark, at left-back, and W. Bruce at inside-right. The Glasgow player was far from being put to a thorough test, but, notwithstanding, his initial appearance was satisfactory. He is built on sturdy lines, and tackles and clears strongly. Bruce, on the other hand, exhibited some clever things, but did not play so well as Slavin. Connon and Duggins were the star performers in the home attack, and much of their good work was turned to disadvantage. Forbes scored the best goal of the fixture. In the middle, division. Swan was the shining light. For the Dundee side, Balloch was a trier, hut did not receive much support from his comrades in the vanguard. Bannister carried off the honours at half-back, while the other defenders lacked polish and were easily beaten. Fisher, the ex-Pittodrie player, while tricky on the ball, did not come up to expectations.
