The Association Football Clubs in Scotland having, on account of the first round of the draw for Scottish Cup and gold badges, which takes place on September 12, to make an earlier start than their rugby friends, the above clubs began their season's work on Saturday last. The Bon-Accord captain, having lost the toss, the Aberdeen captain elected to defend the west goal. The Bon-Accord kick-off was quickly returned, and the ball was only once seen in the Aberdeen quarters during the first half of the game. At half-time the Aberdeen had scored two goals. The second half was a repetition of the first, as the Bon-Accord had again only one raid into their opponents' quarters. Two more goals were added to the Aberdeen's score in this half, and the game thus resulted in their favour by 4 goals to nil. The Aberdeen team played a man short. The goals were taken by D. B. Lothian (2), Smith and Stewart.

Mr. Robertson, the referee at the Inches Recreation Grounds had a pretty fair muster at his first benefit on Saturday afternoon last. The whole of the events were well contested, but I think chief interest was centrerd in a football match between teams representing the Aberdeen and Bon-Accord clubs. The Bon-Accord had the kick-off which was almost immediately returned, and the Bon-Accordians were only successful in putting the ball once into the enemy's camp during the first half of the game. The game resulted in favour of Aberdeen, the score being 4 goals to nothing. The goals were taken by Messrs. Lothian (2), Smith and Stewart.
