Aberdeen 'A' Win

Aberdeen "A" scored their first victory of the season when they defeated Queen's Park Strollers by two goals to one in an Alliance match at Hampden Park. The Aberdeen 'keeper was early in action and had saves from Welsh and Dodds. For a time the amateurs had the better of the exchanges, but eventually the visitors struck form, and the home goal ran several narrow escapes. Hill, Aberdeen's new left half from Forfar Athletic, showed good form, and ably aided the Pittodrie forwards. After Yuill had made a brilliant save from Welsh, play was transferred to the other end, where Young gave Aberdeen the lead with a header. Strong tackling and hefty kicking by the Aberdeen defence kept the amateur attack at bay. Aberdeen missed some good chances before Hill scored a brilliant second goal. The Strollers attacked with renewed vigour after this second reverse, and ultimately scored their only goal through Fitzgerald, although Yuill made a great effort to avert disaster. Both sides appeared to be sadly in need of training. McKenzie and Oliphant in the Aberdeen side did a lot of clever things, but both were decidedly selfish.
