Wee Dons In Close Encounter

The Young Dons maintained their place at the top of the Premier Reserve League table by one point when they drew 3-3 with Rangers in an enthralling match at Pittodrie two weeks ago. Those fans who attended the game were treated to a match with a distinct first team flavour about it.
Action was the name of the game all through and a good deal of it goalmouth action, too. Willie Falconer took the major scoring spotlight with one in each half, Brian Grant getting the other just before half time. Dons were ahead through Falconer after about 12 mins but Burns squared it almost immediately. Then Ex-Don Dougie Bell gave Rangers the lead midway through the half until Grant equalised a couple of minutes before the break.
In a game where the initiative swung either way in entertaining fashion Falconer restored the lead for what promised to be a splendid 3-2 victory but Rangers substitute Frith forced a draw for his side just before the end.
It was a game in which the whole side played well but experience inevitably told its tale with John McMaster organising things intelligently in midfield. However, Falconer's finishing was the major bonus while Grant interestingly kept up his recent habit achieved since his switch from midfield to striker. Grant's display was not restricted to his close-range goal, however. He and Falconer struck up a good working partnership.
