THE YOUNG DONS scored another good win at Methil last week to qualify for the third round of the Second XI. Cup with a 4-1 victory. They again fought hard for every ball, particularly in midfield where Joe Smith and John Craig dominated proceedings, and East Fife A were a well-beaten side in the end.
Billy Williamson and Jim Smith were not so sound at full back as they have been recently, but full marks to Andy Geoghegan and Ian Hair for their performances. Bobby Street is coming back to his best and he capped his display with two goals. His second was a spectacular left foot shot from 20 yards. Willie Miller worked hard as attack leader and he also got his name on the scoresheet after a mistake by the home pivot. The ball ran more kindly for Duncan Davidson, who paid his way with sheer effort.
Arthur Graham was caught in possession too often for his own good and that of the team, but now we look forward to making further progress in the Second XI. Cup and the Reserve League Cup apart from the Reserve League championship race. If the lads continue to apply themselves, this could be one of the young Dons' best seasons for some time.
