Keeper Sent Off In Penalty Drama
TO SAY I was disappointed with the reserves' performance in the 1-1 home draw with St. Johnstone is an understatement. I believe in praise when it is earned but criticism should not be held back when the players leave themselves wide open to it as they did last Saturday. If they felt on top of the world after an opening 3-0 victory at Dundee, then they've been brought down to earth this week. Some of the young players must waken up their ideas and realise that you only get out of football what you put into it. And some of them did not put much into it against St. Johnstone.
There was a complete lack of urgency and the will-to-win needed to overcome a competent Saints side. Only Tommy McMillan and Tommy Wilson played anywhere near form. Jim Hamilton, who has been a general handyman this season with appearances at outside right, right half, centre half, centre forward and deputy right back, was rewarded for his wholehearted efforts with a trip to Muirton with the first-team pool We could have done with his approach to the game last Saturday.
