Huntly's Plucky Fight At Pittodrie

At Pittodrie last night Huntly put up a plucky fight against Aberdeen in the Aberdeen and District League fixture, but were ultimately defeated by 5 goals to nil. In the opening exchanges, Laird was brought to his knees with a first-time effort from Love. Huntly then took up the running, and Ewan's parting shot was well saved by McSevich. End-to-end play followed, with Aberdeen slightly superior, but there was no scoring before the interval. In the second half, Aberdeen improved, and a great shot by Lawson struck the upright. Ross opened Aberdeen's account with a hard shot from well out, and soon afterwards Carroll added other two. Aberdeen were easily the better team in this half, and it was no surprise when McLeod and Cheyne brought the total up to five. For Aberdeen A, McSevich, Muir, and Pirie were a safe defence, while Ross played well. Of the forwards, Love, McLeod, and Lawson were best. On the visitors' side, Laird gave a clever display in goal, and Shearer at back had several brilliant clearances. Ewan on the left wing and Duncan at inside-right were the pick of the forwards.
