Birthplace: Bucksburn
Served in the RAF during WW2. Having signed for Bolton Wanderers earlier in the year, he turned out in a trial match at Pittodrie on 7th August 1943 and went on to play in eight matches for the dons during season 1943-1944, scoring twice. After war service he returned to Bolton Wanderers in 1945, moving to Stockport County in 1955.

Played one match for Scotland in 1950 against England.
