Clean-Cut Victory Over Partick Reserves.
Aberdeen "A" registered a clean-cut victory over Partick Thistle "A" In the Alliance League at Firhill. The Young Dons were first to get going, and Johnston had a couple shots which the Thistle 'keeper managed to clear. Then Thistle showed the pace, but Pinkerton, when well placed, was robbed of the ball. It was a fast game with the Pittodrie side showing up better. Their forwards, however, were weak at close quarters. Warnock worried the home defence and when he got going no fewer than three defender were chasing him. Eight minutes from the interval continuous attacks by the Dons told, and Adam netted. The same player snatched another goal from twenty-five yards' range. The home lot restarted with only nine men, two of their players being unable to take the field owing to injuries sustained in the opening half. With a weakened team it was evident that Thistle would have to do most of the defending, and for a time the Dons did all the attacking. The pressure at last told, and Johnston catching a corner-kick high up, headed into the net. Regan tried to get the Thistle going, but the visiting defence was sound. Warnock got Aberdeen's fourth goal.Source: Press & Journal, 28th August 1933
