Young Dons Depose Alliance Lague Leaders
These two teams served up one of the best displays seen at Pittodrie this season and as a result Kilmarnock were deposed from the leadership of the Alliance League. Despite the heavy ground a fat pace was maintained from start to finish. Both teams played fast, open football, and while Kilmarnock A were as good as the Young Dons in the outfield, they failed when it came to finishing, Clark , being a particular sinner in this respect. It was well for the Ayrshire team that they had a stalwart defence. A goal by Warnock in seven minutes put the Young Dons on their mettle. Kilmarnock set about drawing level, and both goals had narrow escapes before half-time. On one occasion Brown punched out three shots in quick succession while a Devine try was headed out on the line by Anderson, and at the Aberdeen end Black intercepted a pass back by Gavin but his shot struck the post with Westland beaten. Two minutes after the restart Devine scored again for the the homesters, and Scott headed a brilliant third after fine leading up work by Devers. Kilmarnock never gave up trying, and Keane secured a crumb of comfort near the end. For Aberdeen A Temple, Urquhart, Stewart, Gavin, Reid, Devine and Devers were best, while Brown, Fyfe, Morton, Cowan, and Black rendered yeoman service to the visitors.Source: Press & Journal, 28th October 1935
