Aberdeen 3 - 0 Hamilton

The Dons made one change to the side that beat Rangers on Sunday with Max Lowe replacing the injured Andrew Considine at left back. Both sets of players and fans observed a minute silence prior to kick-off for the victims of the Leicester City helicopter tragedy. 

The Dons got off to a dream start with a move straight off the training ground. From a corner Scott Wright cleverly picked out Shinnie who was unmarked, lurking at the edge of the area. The skipper steadied himself before curling his left footed shot across the keeper into the bottom corner.  

Aberdeen looked in control from the off, but the visitors nearly equalised straight after through Scott McMann, whose shot from an angle had Joe Lewis beaten but fortunately for the home side the ball cannoned back out off the post. 

After a slight scare, the home side tightened up and regained control of possession in the middle of the park. Manchester United's James Wilson doubled the advantage midway through the first half. The striker came short and picked up the ball from Wright. In acres of space Wilson turned and set himself before unleashing a vicious strike from 25 yards which sailed straight past Hamilton keeper Gary Woods and dipped into the top left-hand corner. The Aberdeen number 9 showed his class, making a very difficult skill look effortlessly easy. 

The Aberdeen midfield looked in the mood with Lowe and GMS linking up well down the left-hand side, along with McGinn, Wright and Ferguson who all looked dangerous linking well with Wilson. 

McGinn went close with a volley and Wilson could've had a second as The Dons looked to add a third to kill the game by half-time.

Scott Wright could've killed the game five minutes before the break. Shinnie turned defence into attack with a smart turn and pass to pick out McGinn. Driving forward the Northern Irishman played a nice reverse pass into Wright who's touch, unfortunately, let him down, making the chance a lot harder than it was and off balance, he clipped his shot over the bar. Both Aaron McGowan and Matt Kilgallon went into the book for late challenges on red shirts which summed up the first half; Aberdeen dominant and a step ahead of the visitors. 

The Dons started the second half in a similar fashion as they did the first. James Wilson drew a smart save from Woods after finding a yard in the penalty area. The Hamilton keeper got down well to deny Aberdeen their third goal which would've put the game beyond all doubt.

Wright went close on a couple of occasions cutting in from the left-hand side, but neither of his efforts from distance had the finesse to trouble Woods.

Shooting from range seemed to be the tactic for The Reds. Shinnie went close from range attempting to mimic his first-effort before Mikey Devlin struck a pile-driver from 30 yards which had too much venom for Woods who could only parry it into the top corner. It was the former Accies player's first goal for The Dons, putting the game beyond the visitors.

Shay Logan was next to chance his arm from range. The right back's effort was once again on target and heading for the top corner but for an outstretched left hand from Woods who managed to redeem himself and claw it away for a corner.

Wood was called into action minutes later and did well to saves from Stevie May who was on in place for GMS. The keeper did well to close the angle down and make the block and keep the scoreline from getting embarrassing.

Having spent the majority of the game as a spectator Joe Lewis was finally called into action making a routine save from distance from Mickel Miller.

McInnes introduced Connor McLennan and Bruce Anderson to the fray in the final fifteen minutes as the tempo began to drop - The Dons more than happy to knock it about the back and protect their clean sheet.

McGinn nearly added the icing on the cake combining well with Shinnie from a corner but he couldn't direct his effort goal-bound.

Dougie Imrie was given his marching order in stoppage time by referee Greg Aitken. The Accies captain saw the red mist and lunged out on opposite number Graeme Shinnie and was rightfully given a straight red for his troubles.

That was the last action of the game and Aberdeen ran out comfortable 3-0 victors.
