Young Dons' Good Form at Paisley
Aberdeen football followers have reason to be proud of their teams. For some time the First Division Aberdeen men have held the lead in the League race, and on Saturday the Young Dons, who have been playing steadily, jumped to the top of the Alliance League, a point ahead of Hearts' second string. New Year's Day will decide whether they will stay there or not, for when they meet Rangers "A" the result will either dim or brighten their hopes of continuing at the head of affairs.Quick Equaliser
When they met St Mirren "A" at Paisley on Saturday, the Young Dons were in good form. The first half, however, was only minutes old when the homesters took the lead through Nichol. Aberdeen were not to be denied, and from the re-centre Smith fastened on to the ball and, with a dazzling run, in which he beat the defence, brought off the equaliser. Play was exciting after the resumption. For a time it looked as if the Paisley men were again to jump into the lead, but the visitors were coming more into, the picture. It was then that Scott registered a clever goal for the Young Dons to put them ahead.Aberdeen Dominant
From then onwards Aberdeen dominated play, and Scott and his wing men proved themselves much too clever for the Saints' defence. Scott again counted for Aberdeen "A" when, after a dashing run downfield, in which he outwitted the whole of the home defence, he scored another clever goal. Aberdeen "A" were well served in attack, Scott and the wing players, Ritchie Smith and Bain, being outstanding.Source: Press & Journal, 30th December 1935
