Dons' Hard Fight

Aberdeen had to fight hard to beat Raith Rovers 2-0 Pittodrie a North Eastern League game.

The Dons were lucky to be leading by a goal at the interval, but on their play in the second half, when they again netted, they deserved to win.
The Dona, however, lacked the thrust which was characteristic of their 1942 triumphs.
Kelly in goal inspired confidence. He had one masterly save in the second half. Cooper was the better back, and Taylor was outstanding in a good middle division. The attack was moderate, with no one outstanding but Pattillo is due credit for has smartness in notching the two goals.
The Rovers were fighters all the time, and on this form they will cause trouble to most teams. Moody impressed in goal. Hickman was a sound back, and Dutch, the Aberdeen junior, was a success at haLf-back. Forward honours went to Robertson, Hurrell and GLassey, although Robertson had the chances to level the scores. There were 7000 spectators.
