Rory McArdle Returns To Action

Culter 0 Aberdeen U19s 2

Rory McArdle this evening played his first 90 minutes since he dislocated his shoulder against St Mirren at the end of April. Although Rory has been able to complete the pre-season training schedule this was his first competitive action after getting the all clear to play again this week.

Jason Brown also made his first appearance in an Aberdeen jersey. The goalkeeper moved from England last week to join the Dons. It is likely both Rory and Jason will be on the bench at St Mirren on Saturday. Jason Brown

As for the game itself it was a close encounter and credit to Culter who competed well. The Junior outfit are managed by former Don Andy Gibson and they also have Hugh Robertson in their side. Hugh is the last of the players from the 1995 League Cup winning squad who are still playing competitively.

The goals came late on. On 78 minutes Jack Grimmer made a good run from the right back area and when he was fouled in the box he won his side a penalty. Ryan Jack stepped forward and he put the keeper the wrong way. Then two minutes later after a good move Dean Carse set up Declan McManus who finished well.
