On a bone-hard Pittodrie pitch, both Aberdeen and Clyde served up some nice football in a friendly match which the home team won by the odd goal in five.
With the cup-ties in view it was not to be expected that either team would take unnecessary risks, but the 7000 crowd thoroughly appreciated some the finer touches.
For the most part Aberdeen dictated the run of play, and their shooting brought out the best in Thomson, Clyde's young 'keeper from Blairgowrie.
Linwood, Clyde's international leader, had a quiet game, but he popped up to score the visitors' two goals - one two minutes after the start and the other nine minutes from time. In between these counters Pearson, Baird and Yorston netted for Aberdeen.
