Full Name: Arthur Gilbert Biggs
BIGGS SIGNED FOR DONS
SUBSTANTIAL SUM PAID TO HEARTS
Aberdeen F.C. last night signed Biggs, the Hearts centre-forward, and will turn out for the Dons against Clyde at Pittodrie on Saturday.
Mr David Halliday, the Aberdeen manager, travelled to Edinburgh on Monday morning, but it was not until late last night that negotiations were completed.
PLAYER PERSUADED
Terms were agreed to between the clubs on Monday, but it was only after a protracted discussion that the player was persuaded by the Aberdeen officials to put pen to paper.
The fee was not divulged, but is understood to be a substantial one.
Biggs joined Hearts from Arsenal on December 9 last year, being signed to take the place of Joe Mantle, the Stockport County leader, who had his leg broken on December against Morton. Biggs joined the Highbury club from Bedfordshire League football in 1933, and the season prior to coming to Scotland scored forty-six goals in Arsenal's reserve side. He also made several appearances in the first team.
PITTODRIE DISPLAY
Although he has not struck his best form at Tynecastle, the Englishman is a talented player, and a change of quarters may result in his finding his best form.
Playing for Hearts "A" at Pittodrie on Saturday, he was their best forward, and was extremely dangerous when he took over the inside-left berth in the second half.
Biggs, who is twenty-three years of age, stands 5ft. llin. and weighs close on 12 stone.
