Match played at East London, Eastern Cape, South AfricaWe were in East London from Thursday, the 2nd June, till Monday, the 6th. The reception we got at East London station was wonderful. I think every Scot in the town was there to greet us, and the pipe band headed us to our hotel. Then on Friday we attended the Caledonian Society function and had a great night with the Scotch folks. On Saturday we played the Frontier select and sustained our first defeat by the odd goal in five. Ben Yorston got our couple. I wasn't playing. I got a knock on the thigh in the second game at Cape Town and it was aggravated in the game at Port Elizabeth, so Dod Ritchie took my place between the sticks. Muir and D. Bruce were at back, Cosgrove, McHale and Edward. half-backs, and the foward line was: Jackson, Cheyne, R. Bruce, Yorston and Love.
The Frontier are a very good side, and they are very fast, while our boys never struck it until the last twenty minutes, when they had the hardest luck in not winning comfortably.
