ABERDEEN SIGN A JUNIOR INTERNATIONALIST.

It is learned that yesterday the Aberdeen F,C. secured the signature of Robert Bruce, inside forward of the Glasgow St Anthony's Club. Bruce is a junior internationalist, and played against Ireland in the season just closed. During the past few weeks he has been probably the most sought after junior in Scotland, '"Paddy" Travers, the Aberdeen trainer, who secured his signature, is considered to have accomplished a good stroke of business.
Bruce is very young, but is a growing lad who will develop physically, and is considered have a big future.

There will be general regret but no surprise over the departure of "Bobby" Bruce from Aberdeen to Middlesbrough. Ever since the present season opened various English clubs, particularly Hull City, have been eager to secure the services of the Aberdeen forward, and it was felt that after the Dons were finished with the cup-ties the club would be prepared to let the player go to the highest bidder.
What is Middlesbrough's gain is Aberdeen's loss from a playing point of view. During the season Bruce has been Aberdeen's most consistent forward, and one of their best goal-getters. At the same time, there are many followers of the club who considered Bruce far too individualistic in his play for Aberdeen's purpose. His style would suit English football, however, and he carries with him all good wishes for his future success.
It can be taken for granted that the Pittodrie directors have a definite purpose in transferring Bruce for what is a very substantial fee. To put the matter bluntly, they have more than made up for the financial loss entailed through the early dismissal of the Dons from the Cup competition. A few weeks have elapsed since the statement was made that the club was out to secure the right type of players in order to strengthen the team, but, up to the time of writing, no new recruits have been signed.
I may add, however, that Aberdeen had representatives at Forfar and Glasgow on Saturday, while a well-known First League player was under observation as well.
