Moderate Attack
The Dons were poorly served at inside forward after Hamilton went to centre. The internationalist was the best of a moderate attack, Dryden being handicapped through injury. The United had a sound defence. Smith at centre-half did grand work, his headwork being particularly effective. All five forwards were clever, and the crowd was impressed with the lively diminutive right wing pair Taylor and Highmoor. Carr distributed play well and Woodburn and Mooney made a good left wing.Source: Press & Journal, 29th September 1942
