Joined up at Pittodrie after the First World War, and developed into one of the toughest yet most jovial defenders in the game. Not surprisingly he could also impart tremendous power to his kicks. Originally an inside forward, his burly physique and impressive agility was put to good use as a full back. It was during the 20's that Hutton was to flourish in his new role, and he went on to become the Dons most capped player at that time with seven outings for Scotland. On 14th October 1926, he was transferred to Blackburn Rovers in a then record fee of £6,000. Before retiring in 1933, won an FA Cup winners gong with Blackburn in 1928.

Long after he had left Pittorie Jock used to visit Aberdeen. In June 1929, he took part in a rescue of a woman who had slipped into the Victoria Dock. He rowed out to her and her rescuer, Thomas Moir,in a boat, and managed to haul the exhausted pair aboard.

In 1939, Jock, now working as a lorry driver and living at 6 Bright Street in Aberdeen, appeared in court charged with appropriating and stealing money in relation to betting. He was found guilty but because of having a clean record his punishment was limited to a fine of £3 or 14 days.

First name of John but always known as Jock. Died - Belfast, 2nd January 1970
